Why menopause support matters at work

Menopause isn’t just a personal issue - it’s a workplace, societal, and gender equity issue. Symptoms such as hot flushes, anxiety, sleep disturbances and brain fog can significantly affect someone’s ability to thrive at work. But for too long, stigma and silence have kept people from speaking up or seeking help.

What Being a Menopause Friendly Workplace Looks Like

Receiving the Menopause Friendly Accreditation means meeting five rigorous global standards, covering everything from tailored support to cultural change.

Here’s how Deloitte is setting the standard:

Tailored, People-First Support

We know that no two menopause journeys are alike. That’s why we provide a range of support measures, including:

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Access to menopause-related leave
  • Portable fans, comfort-focused workwear options, and access to cold drinking water
  • Menopause resources and toolkits for individuals and leaders
  • Access to Champions and wellbeing contacts

Education and Awareness

From team members to team leaders, we’re building a shared understanding of menopause through training, open forums, and learning resources. Our aim? To normalise the conversation and empower every employee - regardless of gender - to engage with empathy.

Safe, Inclusive Spaces

Our Menopause Cafés are informal, agenda-free sessions that allow people to share experiences, ask questions, and learn from each other in a safe environment. Open to all team members, they’re helping create a culture where reproductive health is understood, not hidden.

Deloitte’s accreditation has been recognised as "outstanding" by the independent panel behind Menopause Friendly Australia.
