Kenya’s Best Managed Companies is a leading business awards programme, recognising excellence in Kenyan headquartered companies with revenues of KSH 117,520,000 ($ 1,000,000) or greater in Kenya.

Entrepreneurial companies compete for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates the calibre of their management abilities and practices.

Eligibility

Who can apply? Companies wishing to apply must meet the following criteria:

Revenue

• Companies with revenues of KSH117,520,000 ($1,000,000) or greater in Kenya

No. of Years in Operation

• 5 or more years in operation

Ownership

• 50% owned by Kenyan residents or entities which may include:
• Kenyan owned private company
• Kenyan portfolio of companies controlled by local venture capital and local private equity firms
• Family Offices

Major decision making centre

• Headquarters or major decision-making centre should be in Kenya

Compliance

• Fully compliant with the prevailing legal, tax and ethical framework in Kenya

No of employees

• 50 employees

Brand Reputation

• Clear of any brand reputation issues

Independence

• Not a Deloitte Restricted Client

Not Eligible

• Public companies where the majority stake (>50%) is not privately-held by residents or entities within Kenya
• Foreign multinationals and their subsidiaries
• Government-owned entities / public sector agencies
• Charities and not-for-profit enterprises
• Partnerships / Joint Ventures
• Private Equity firms, Credit Unions, Mutual or co-operative insurance companies
