Deloitte Africa returns an impressive haul at EMEA Tax Awards

Johannesburg, 19 September 2022 -Deloitte Africa has been named the Africa Tax Firm of the Year at the 2022 International Tax Review (ITR) Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Tax Awards. The awards ceremony took place at the Hilton Bankside in London recently. This is the second year in a row that Deloitte Africa wins the Africa Tax Firm of the Year.

Deloitte Africa contributed immensely to Deloitte’s EMEA regional win as Tax Technology Provider of the Year, for implementing and integrating new technology-based processes, and the Tax Compliance and Reporting Firm of the Year award, for displaying exceptional strength in tax compliance and reporting matters. The Deloitte network in EMEA, of which Deloitte Africa is part of , also won the Diversity and Inclusion Firm of the Year, Tax Innovator of the Year and Indirect Tax Firm of the Year awards.

According to ITR, the accolade for Tax Firm of the Year is given to a practice “that demonstrates  exceptional performance and impact in advising clients on direct and indirect tax matters in its jurisdiction or as part of cross-border matters or as domestic deals, cases or projects.”

Commenting on the recognition, Itireleng Kubeka, Africa Tax & Legal Managing Director at Deloitte Africa said, “We are honoured by this recognition as it affirms the investment we have made into both talent and technology to serve our clients over the past few years. I want to congratulate and thank all the teams involved for bringing their best forward and showcasing what we can do together.” Kubeka, who took up her role in April, says the awards are further proof that the tax function has a critical strategic advisory role to play beyond compliance.

Now in their 18th year, the ITR EMEA Tax Awards celebrate the leading tax and transfer pricing firms as well as practitioners from across the EMEA region. The awards submissions are judged on innovation, level of impact, complexity of matter, and scale of projects completed during a twelve-month period.

Deloitte Africa CEO Ruwayda Redfearn commented, “These awards are testimony to the hard work that our people put in to serve a purpose beyond profit. Beyond the technical capabilities they confirm, we are particularly proud of the diversity and inclusion award, which recognises the efforts by Deloitte globally to be a diversified and inclusive workplace. We are proud of our tax and legal team.”
