Jonathan Sykes | Deloitte Southern Africa

Jonathan is a Partner in the Financial Services Advisory division of Deloitte South Africa. He has assisted banking clients navigate through numerous regulatory, accounting, risk and governance considerations effecting the industry. He enjoys unpacking the technical requirements of accounting standards and regulations into their underlying operational, strategic and practical ramifications. He has a detailed understanding of IFRS and Prudential Regulatory requirements and how to embed these into business practices. Jonathan’s ability to deliver has been proven during multiple large-scale projects. He has played a leading role in large scale risk and finance projects at Tier 1 South African banks within the retail, commercial and corporate banking spheres. During his 15 years’ experience in the financial services sector, he has worked with clients such as Barclays, Absa, Standard Bank, Nedbank, FirstRand Bank, Investec, the Prudential Authority and a number of smaller banks and institutions. Jonathan has lead the Deloitte Africa’s credit risk proposition (including IFRS 9) as well as driving other risk and regulatory advisory offerings.
