Gert is an Associate Director specialising in Systems Engineering at Deloitte Consulting South Africa.
Prior to this, he started his career as a software engineer at Idion Technology Holdings. Gert joined Accenture in September 2001 and was a Managing Director in Technology Consulting serving the Products (Retail) Industry in the South African Consulting practice. Leaving Accenture in 2017 after 16 years, he joined Optron as the Head of Technology in Enterprise Business Solutions, where Gert and 2 colleagues started a new division to add professional services to the Optron traditional business offerings.
Gert has more than 20 years’ experience in IT Transformation and Delivery management, delivering extensive business value to his clients. He holds a B.Eng (Electronic Engineering) and he completed an MBA at the University of Pretoria with research in Software Project Management.
He has led large technology transformation and implementation projects and programmes for most of his career, managing teams of technologists of up to 200 people, both on and off-shore. He held the position of CIO for Accenture Services (Pty) Ltd. He focused on Retail for the last 7 years, but has worked across multiple industries including Financial Services, Public Service, Mining and TMT.
