Africa Oil Week 2025: Accelerating Growth in Africa’s Energy Industry

The Africa Oil Week 2025 Ministerial Symposium was held for the first time in West Africa, convening in Ghana and drawing over 300 senior industry leaders and 50 government officials. This landmark event united stakeholders from across the continent under the central theme of "Inter-Regional Collaboration for Value Creation." Against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving global energy landscape, participants examined the pressing issues of energy transition, energy security, and the deployment of advanced energy technologies in Africa.

Key discussions highlighted the untapped potential of Africa’s oil and gas reserves, alongside the wide variations in development across different nations. The symposium underscored the need for deeper regional integration, transparent governance, and harmonised regulatory frameworks to bolster investment flows and promote sustainable value creation.

Major topics included:

  • The crucial role of creating a predictable and stable investment environment for both foreign and local investors;
  • Aligning fiscal and regulatory policies across the continent;
  • Building shared energy infrastructure, such as regional pipelines and power grids, to address Africa’s substantial energy access gap;
  • The importance of driving capacity-building efforts and supporting local communities through skills development and job creation.
