Deloitte Netherlands announces that it has reached a settlement with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) regarding the investigation into the firm's learning integrity.
Rotterdam, 25 June 2025
The PCAOB has found that Deloitte Netherlands violated certain rules and quality control standards in connection with certain firm personnel sharing answers on the firm's internal training tests from 2018 to 2022. Throughout the investigation, Deloitte Netherlands has fully cooperated with regulators, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and accountability, and has undertaken appropriate disciplinary and remedial actions.
Hans Honig, CEO of Deloitte Netherlands, stated: “The outcomes of the investigation into learning integrity are disappointing and do not reflect who we are as a firm or the values we strive to uphold. Our investigation was thorough and intensive and has provided us with valuable lessons to learn and opportunities to make immediate and decisive changes that have strengthened our internal controls and training processes. We are fully committed to working diligently on fostering a strong organizational culture. We take this matter extremely seriously and are dedicated to learning from this experience as we move forward.”
Hans van der Noordaa, Chair Supervisory Board Deloitte Netherlands: “As Chair of the Supervisory Board, I want to express my disappointment with the outcomes of the investigation and note that we fully support the Executive Board in their commitment to effect meaningful change. We will ensure that all initiatives are closely monitored by the Supervisory Board. Our focus remains on reinforcing a culture of integrity and accountability within the organization as we move forward.”
Deloitte Netherlands is also committed to working closely with the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). “We are dedicated to fostering a culture of accountability and ethical behavior within our firm," Honig added. "This settlement provides us with the opportunity to learn and grow from this experience, reinforcing our commitment to maintaining the trust of our clients and stakeholders." Deloitte Netherlands looks forward to implementing these necessary changes and continuing to serve its clients with the utmost professionalism.
