At Deloitte, I have the privilege of leading Deloitte’s Blockchain and Digital Assets practice in the Netherlands. My team and I help established financial institutions and crypto-native businesses translate blockchain opportunities into scalable, compliant and commercially viable solutions.
I believe blockchain’s greatest potential lies in enabling the convergence of digital identity, ownership and payments through a single “settlement layer”. With the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) now providing a clear framework for the issuance of crypto assets and stablecoins (electronic money tokens), and for services such as custody, we have a stronger foundation of trust on which to build real-world adoption beyond crypto trading.
As for the next step in real-world adoption, I expect network effects to emerge first through stablecoins, as they can be implemented at the level of an individual organisation, and to be followed by a broader shift where assets and business logic shift onto blockchains.
Before specialising in blockchain, I worked as a financial auditor from 2010 and completed the theoretical training required to qualify as a Registered Auditor.
