PECS Call to open on 4 June 2026

The European Space Agency (“ESA”) will launch the 4th Call for the Plan for European Cooperating States (“PECS”) on 4 June 2026. The Call will make €1.75 million available to Malta-based entities seeking to develop projects connected to the space sector.

Funding opportunities will be available across a number of activity types, including early-stage research and preparatory activities, product and service development, space science activities, downstream space applications, and education initiatives, including university modules and PhD research.

Eligible projects may receive funding of up to €400,000, depending on the activity type, with project durations ranging from 9 to 36 months.

Certain categories also include Technology Readiness Level (“TRL”) requirements and collaboration conditions involving industry, academia, end users, or international partners.

Through its Space Programmes & Engagement Unit, Xjenza Malta acts as Malta’s institutional bridge with ESA, supporting local entities in accessing European space funding and collaboration opportunities.

Applications under this Call must be submitted by 30 June 2026.
