Digitalise your Micro Business (the ‘Scheme’) is a new scheme funded through the Recovery and Resilience Fund for Malta, which is specifically designed to assist Micro Enterprises through non-repayable grants to part-finance investments to digitalise their operations. The Scheme will remain operational until 31 December 2023*, subject to availability of funds.
*Update 9 February 2024: The Digitalise your Micro Business Scheme has been extended to 30 June 2026.
Micro Enterprises engaged in an economic activity, irrespective of their legal form, are eligible to benefit from the Scheme. Micro Enterprises are enterprises which employ less than 10 employees and whose turnover or balance sheet total are less than €2 million.
The maximum funding amount under this scheme is €10,000 per digitalisation investment, part-financing eligible costs up to 50% for investments in Malta and 60% for investments in Gozo.
The Scheme will support eligible enterprises to undertake the following actions with the aim of improving their efficiency, productivity and customer experience:
a. Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software
b. Hardware (such as laptops, docking station, port replicator, monitors, tablets)
c. Cloud computing
d. Training costs on the use of the specific item acquired under the points above and included in the purchase price of the item in question. It should be noted that for subscription-based software, the cost of a two-year subscription will be considered as the eligible cost item.
Upon application, prospective beneficiaries are required to submit a quotation including the required technical specifications of the eligible hardware or software they wish to acquire.
The aid value for the identified eligible expenditure shall be reimbursed by reference to the actual cost incurred and paid, capped at the value of the quotation or the invoice amount, whichever is the lower.
