Mind the Gap Grant Initiative – The Cybersecurity Improvement Scheme

Deloitte Malta Gi3 Alert

09 February 2023

A new initiative known as ‘Mind the Gap’ has been launched, intended for businesses with a digital presence and aiming to protect them against cybercrime.

The initiative comprises an initial cybersecurity self- assessment check, so that businesses can gauge their cybersecurity maturity level and analyse their vulnerabilities.

Should, upon completing this self-assessment, businesses wish to improve their cybersecurity maturity levels and thereby increase security, they can apply for funding of up to €10,000 per applicant under the Cybersecurity Improvement Scheme (hereinafter ‘the Scheme’). The overall assistance is also subject to a maximum €200,000 of de minimis assistance granted to a single undertaking over any period of three consecutive fiscal years.

The Scheme will cover costs related to cybersecurity matters, limited to appointment of technical experts and purchase of software and equipment. Applicants are required to submit a business case together with the application, outlining the cybersecurity matters that are to be improved upon through their investments.

The Scheme is open until 31 December 2023 or until its overall budget of €100,000 is fully utilised.
