Obtaining my Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Insurance followed by my ACCA qualification has allowed me to take on new and exciting challenges in my career at Deloitte Malta. The knowledge and skills I gained through my studies and throughout my auditing career have given me the confidence and ability to pursue a wide range of opportunities within the audit field, one of these being a short-term secondment to Deloitte Luxembourg. I am grateful for the doors that these qualifications have opened for me, and I am excited to see what the future holds.

Choosing Business and Computing at the University of Malta allowed me to gain a solid basis of computing and IT principles whilst further developing my knowledge in the areas of business studies. Whilst my initial work experience post-university was of a more technical nature, I quickly developed a preference for the business analysis side of technology projects. Deloitte has given me various opportunities to take on various roles within different technology projects, including roles as an Implementation Consultant, Business Process Analyst and Project Manager. This allowed me to gain various experiences in Digital Transformation Projects within various industries, which propelled me into my role as a Senior Manager within Deloitte Digital today.

Having just finished my A levels and being unsure of the career I intended on pursuing, I decided to enrol in the Law Course at the University of Malta being under the impression that the course would open up a number of different opportunities beyond the law courts. A degree in law is so much more than court and the opportunities it presents are truly endless. Towards the end of the course I joined Deloitte’s student programme which offered the possibility of working with and learning from qualified professionals from all over the globe, while at the same being able to prioritize my studies. I have since completed the law course, obtained a Masters in International Tax Law at the University of Leiden, with Deloitte providing the necessary guidance and assistance, am now a Senior Manager within the International Tax team and haven’t looked back on my decision to join Deloitte.

I always enjoyed finance, decision making and strategy and this course provided the opportunity to expose myself to various fields of accounting and banking and finance before deciding. As I progressed through the course, corporate finance was something that interested me the most and led me to apply for a job within this field at Deloitte. I currently focus on financial feasibility studies, debt and capital advisory, business planning and mergers & acquisitions.

My professional experience, coupled with my studies in management, has significantly contributed to my career progression at Deloitte, enhancing both the quality of service delivered to clients and my leadership capabilities. Along the years, I developed a keen interest in Anti-Financial Crime risk, which led me to obtain the ACAMS certification.
