One of the main routes to becoming a qualified accountant in Malta is by obtaining the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification. This globally recognised qualification equips you with the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in accountancy and finance.

These exams can be taken on-demand at any time during the year. Upon completion, you earn the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business (MQF Level 5). To obtain the diploma, you must also complete the Foundations in Professionalism module, an interactive online course on ethics and professionalism.
These exams are scheduled in March, June, September, and December. However, Malta tax and law exams are only available in June and December. Passing these exams leads to the ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business (MQF Level 6). You must also complete the Ethics and Professional Skills module at this stage.
This is the final stage of your ACCA journey and is equivalent to MQF Level 7.
It consists of two mandatory exams and two optional exams (chosen from four options). If you want to obtain the warrant to practise as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Malta, you must take the Malta Advanced Tax exam. If you aim for a Practicing Certificate in Auditing, you must also take the Advanced Audit and Assurance exam. Otherwise, you can choose from any of the other optional papers.
