Deloitte Malta supports the Royal Malta Golf Club

Malta, 3 September 2025—Deloitte Malta is delighted to announce its partnership with the Royal Malta Golf Club (RMGC) (the ‘Club’). The Club has been a cornerstone of Malta's sporting community since its founding in 1888. This collaboration marks Deloitte's commitment to supporting sporting excellence.

As the RMGC's premium partner, Deloitte will be the title sponsor of two prestigious Club tournaments: The Captains’ League, which runs from November to May, and Malta versus The Rest, the Club’s flagship team match play event. These tournaments are a testament to the Club's vibrant community and competitive spirit.

This announcement follows the exciting news that the Royal Malta Golf Club will host the European Golf Association’s European Men’s Team Shield in 2026, a first for golf in Malta.

"As a proud member of the Royal Malta Golf Club for more than three decades, this partnership holds special significance for me personally and for Deloitte Malta. We are delighted to support the Club in its ambitious 'From Good to Great' initiative, a comprehensive five-year strategic plan. Central to this vision is modernisation, to ensure that the Club continues to meet and exceed the expectations of its members. We are excited to contribute to the continued growth and success of this respected institution" said Christopher Bergedahl, Director at Deloitte Malta.

“Partnering with a world-class brand like Deloitte is a tremendous boost to our Club,” said Paul Stoner, Chairman of the Royal Malta Golf Club. “Their support not only validates the progress we’ve made, but also complements our ambition to develop RMGC into a truly world-class facility. We share a commitment to excellence, and this collaboration will help us continue delivering outstanding value to our members and the wider golfing community. It is our clear intent that this marks the beginning of a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship, one that grows stronger and stronger as the partnership evolves.”

The Royal Malta Golf Club, founded by Lieutenant-General Sir Henry D’Oyley Torrens KCB KCMG, has a rich history that spans over a century. Accorded "royal" status due to the involvement of Prince Alfred Ernest Albert, third son of Queen Victoria, as a founding member, the Club celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2013. Recently, RMGC has invested significantly in the redevelopment of its playing facilities, upgrading all 18 greens to meet USGA standards, ensuring a world-class experience for its members and visitors.

Deloitte has a significant presence in sports sponsorships globally, partnering with various organisations and events across different sports. Their sponsorship portfolio includes the Olympic Games, World Athletics, US Soccer, the United States Golf Association and the Maltese Olympic Committee, among others. Deloitte's involvement often extends beyond financial support, providing professional and technical assistance in areas like digital transformation, governance, and talent development. Deloitte Malta is honoured to support the Royal Malta Golf Club and looks forward to a fruitful partnership that celebrates the Club's legacy and future achievements.
