World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is observed on October 10 every year. The day seeks to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and to mobilize efforts to support it on a global basis –including in the workplace.
Deloitte Middle East CEO, Mutasem Dajani, said the following when asked about the importance of upholding mental wellbeing in the workplace:
“We are a vibrant, inclusive and diverse business and we work hard to keep our people’s wellbeing at the center of our working practices. In recent years there has been significant change in the way we live, work and communicate. This has impacted people globally, and Deloitte has responded by broadening its wellbeing strategy. This remains central to our values and will continue to do so throughout our journey of business.”
Consider the many times you are asked how you are throughout the day. Do you think about how you are feeling before you respond? It is common for us to reply: “I’m fine”, even when we are not.
Deloitte’s 2022 WMHD digital campaign challenged the stigma surrounding conversations about mental health. It illustrated the ways in which we can all express how we are really doing, and to encourage people to discuss mental health and emotional wellbeing in the workplace.
The support we offer at Deloitte Middle East is extended through a number of resources and channels available to all employees:
Remember, the world isn’t perfect; so you don’t have to be either.
