John Psaila

Partner

John Psaila is a Partner at Deloitte Luxembourg and served as the firm’s CEO and Managing Partner from 2018 to 2026.

Over a career spanning more than three decades with Deloitte, John has advised organisations ranging from entrepreneurial businesses to listed multinational groups. Having worked across three Deloitte member firms, he brings an international perspective shaped by extensive experience in audit, governance and leadership.

John joined Deloitte Luxembourg in 2001 and became a Partner in 2008. After serving on the firm’s Executive Committee and leading its Reputation & Risk agenda, he was elected CEO and Managing Partner in 2017.

During his two consecutive mandates, he led Deloitte Luxembourg through a defining period in its history, overseeing its integration into Deloitte Central Europe and, subsequently, Deloitte EMEA. He also guided the organisation through the COVID-19 pandemic, approximately doubled the size of its partnership, expanded its capabilities and championed the creation of the Deloitte Foundation, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates. Under his leadership, the firm strengthened its market position while preserving the entrepreneurial spirit and sense of partnership that have long defined Deloitte Luxembourg.

An auditor by profession, John has extensive experience in complex group audits, corporate governance and the regulatory framework governing public interest entities. Throughout his career, he has been a trusted adviser to boards, audit committees and executive leadership teams navigating growth, transformation and change.

John believes that leadership is ultimately an act of stewardship. This conviction has shaped his approach throughout his career, with a particular focus on building trust, developing future leaders and strengthening institutions for the long term. He believes that leadership is not measured by the position one holds, but by the strength of the institution one leaves behind.

Originally from Malta and based in Luxembourg since 2001, John has spent much of his professional life contributing to the development of Luxembourg’s business community and international financial centre.

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a member of the Luxembourg Institute of Auditors (IRE), a member of the Ordre des Experts Comptables (OEC) and an Authorised Statutory Auditor (réviseur d’entreprises agréé) in Luxembourg.
