SOMIC India Private Ltd.

About

SOMIC India Private Ltd .is a leading automotive manufacturing company with plants in Gurgaon, Gujarat and Chennai. The organisation focuses on delivering high-quality automotive components while using modern ERP solutions to enhance operational efficiency, compliance and scalability across its manufacturing ecosystem.

Problem

SOMIC India Private Ltd. was operating on Oracle EBS since 2013 with heavy customisations and manual processes, especially around order management and manufacturing. Planning, costing and maintenance functions were managed completely offline. Manual and plant-specific processes hampered the client’s growth ambitions.

After running on Oracle EBS for 12 years, SOMIC India Private Ltd. recognised the need to move from an on-premises setup to a modern, cloud-based ERP platform that can scale with its growth ambitions. Deloitte India collaborated with SOMIC India Private Ltd. to design and deliver this next-generation platform, enabling a future-ready and integrated digital core.

Some of the challenges faced by the client were:

  • Outdated systems: SOMIC India Private Ltd. was on Oracle On-prem R12.2.5 version, for which Oracle will end its support in the near future.
  • Discrepancies across locations: Different policies/processes are followed differently across different locations.
  • Increased manual hours: Most of the cost accounting was manual since costing and COGS calculations were done offline in Excel.
  • Production inefficiencies: Production planning, cycle time and the total cost of production on a specific machine/module were calculated offline in Excel.
  • Manual processes: Planning, costing and maintenance were managed entirely offline.

Solution
