Deloitte operates a 42PB Hadoop platform for a client, and in doing so, reduced the infra resources utilised by 30 percent.
Challenge
Our client is a Global BFSI and payments player, with over 400 million real-time transactions per day, generating huge amounts of financial data. They have acquired several companies, each with their own financial reporting formats, leading to huge variety in the financial data file formats.
Deloitte has been a true technology partner to the client, helping manage this huge and complex set of financial data by leveraging one of the biggest Hadoop clusters globally, with a team of approximately sixty people.
Solution
Deloitte put together ‘a best-of-breed’ data engineering team of product owners, data engineers, developers and DevOps professionals to power, realise, and sustain the client’s data programme to support their finance and business efforts.
Deloitte’s team works with the client’s full-time technology team and even manages some other vendors, to help ensure successful delivery of data engineering projects while also ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day technology operations year on year.
Results
The Deloitte team helped optimise the usage of the 42 Petabyte Hadoop platform by reducing the run time of jobs by 25 percent and helping reduce the CPU and Infra resources utilisation by about 30 percent.
We leveraged Big Data Hadoop to build a Tax Datamart to power the critical activity of tax filing in a cost-effective manner.
We were involved in key data engineering aspects for various parts of the client’s operations, in a build-operate-transfer model.
We helped the client with business-critical analysis of customer behavioral data, including customers’ website click-through behavior, including finding the root causing of transaction failures and abandonment, in a cost-effectively and in time timely manner.
