Tax Policy and Technical Services
Our team provides advice and opinions to tax teams and external stakeholders on complex tax matters and supports tax teams in the provision of services to clients. We engage on tax policy and technical matters in dialogues with relevant Government Departments.
The Tax Policy and Technical Services team works closely with tax teams and external stakeholders and provides advice and opinions on complex tax matters. We continuously engage with relevant Government Departments including the Office of Revenue Commissioners and the Department of Finance on tax technical and policy matters. The team, in collaboration with our EU and global Deloitte Tax Policy and Technical teams, develops publications on national and global tax policy and technical developments.
The team is led by Tom Maguire, who is highly regarded within the tax profession as a deep technical specialist and known for his leading publications including “Irish Capital Gains Tax”, “Taxation of Companies” and “Irish Income Tax”, all of which have been cited in decisions of the Tax Appeals Commission. They are used regularly by tax advisers, accountants, lawyers, judges and others in the tax profession and include forewords by two Ministers for Finance as well as a former Tánaiste and Minister for Justice. The team comprises senior management with wide collective experience in the private and public sector who also regularly contribute to various policy.
