Structured training is available at each level of your training programme. During your trainee solicitor contract you will work within our Tax Private & Capital team on challenging client assignments. A day working as an apprentice solicitor at Deloitte could involve any of the following activities:
Scanning for upcoming regulatory/legislative changes which will impact our clients and conducting detailed analysis of existing and upcoming regulatory/legislative changes
Providing advice and support to our clients in implementation of regulatory changes
Conducting detailed gap analysis and impact assessments for clients
Assisting compliance departments in reviewing their core activities from a second line of defence perspective, providing support in the roll out of compliance universes, regulatory obligations registers etc.
Drafting policies, procedures, standards and compliance frameworks
Assisting with Brexit related queries, jurisdiction analysis, authorisations etc.
Drafting points of view, articles, responding to consultation papers and attendance at industry events
Apprentice Solicitors complete the Law Society of Ireland Professional Practice Course (PPC1 & 2) to become a Solicitor during their training contract (up to 4 years in duration). Once all FE1 examinations have been obtained. Trainee solicitors will complete their in-office training (24 months in duration). This is structured as follows:
In office training/ secondment post PPC1 (11 months)
Attendance on PPC2 (3 months)
In office training/ secondment period post PPC2 (10 months)
Upon completion of your in-office training and once all exams have been completed, you may apply to have your name entered onto the Roll of Solicitors.
Professional Education
The firm is committed to supporting apprentice solicitors through their course of study and subsequent admittance to the professional body, not only by providing the competencies through their day to day work but also fully supporting this course of study through a mixture of study leave and internal and external support mechanisms.

Achieved or are currently on target for a 2.1 honours degree or higher
A high level of self-motivation and commitment
The ability to analyse and work through complex problems
Flexibility, resilience and intellectual curiosity
A proactive approach to work
Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment
The ability to learn quickly
Demonstrated leadership, creative problem solving and strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritise tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage change
Some relevant work experience (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)
