We have several student work placement offering across each of our business units, each one is tailored for students to develop specialised skills in technical expertise, client relationships, and technology—enhanced by hands-on learning and mentoring.

You will play an integral role in supporting the Audit & Assurance team while gaining hands-on experience in real-world business challenges. Here’s what you can expect to do:

  • Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Work with financial data to help your team address complex business challenges, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
  • Audit Planning & Collaboration: Contribute to audit planning, attend client meetings, and collaborate with team members to develop innovative solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Deliverables That Matter: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, produce high-quality work papers, and leverage cutting-edge tools and methodologies to deliver exceptional results.
  • Critical Thinking: Use analytical skills to identify and document complex issues, supporting the team in ensuring accuracy and reliability in client reporting.
  • Integrity & Excellence: Uphold ethical and professional standards, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to Deloitte’s reputation for excellence in client service.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects, develop technical and professional skills, and collaborate with leading professionals. Depending on the team you join for your work placement, your responsibilities may include:

Core Tax

  • Work across key Tax services: Corporate Tax, Global Employer Services, Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, and Business Process Solutions.
  • Advise diverse clients, including multinationals and family-owned businesses, in a dynamic environment.
  • Gain access to Deloitte’s professional development programs and comprehensive exam support for ACA and CTA qualifications.
  • Support tax disputes and join Tax Partners at proceedings locally and abroad.

Tax Technical

  • Bridge the gap between tax departments and technology, driving business value.
  • Design innovative solutions using Gen AI, ERP systems, and tools like Alteryx, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver client-focused tax technology solutions.
  • Contribute to automation flows, process maps, and data visualization dashboards.

R&D Tax

  • Work with clients in industries such as software, biotech, and manufacturing to evaluate and fund R&D activities.
  • Conduct technical interviews with innovation leaders and prepare R&D Tax Credit documentation.
  • Align client projects with R&D tax and grant qualification criteria, including financial calculations.
  • Support R&D claims during Revenue audits and identify additional funding opportunities.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in designing and delivering innovative solutions that align technology with business goals. Your role will involve:

  • Collaborating with Clients: Translate business needs into technical solutions by creating process maps, user stories, and requirement documents.
  • Supporting Projects: Assist with project coordination, testing, and facilitating client workshops to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Exploring Core Transformation Services: Work on key areas like Operations Solutions, Finance Transformation, Brand & Marketing, Product, Commercial & Strategy, Human Capital, and Technology.
  • Engaging with Core Technology Services: Gain exposure to Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Design, Technology Strategy and Transformation, Architecture and Engineering, and Salesforce.

You'll work on dynamic projects that help clients tackle complex challenges and make strategic decisions. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Regulatory, Financial, and External Enterprise Risk: Assisting clients in identifying, managing, and mitigating financial, regulatory, and operational risks to protect and grow their businesses.
  • Strategy & Business Design: Supporting the development of strategic frameworks and actionable plans to guide clients through transformation and growth initiatives.
  • Real Estate & Infrastructure Capital Projects (ICP): Providing advice on real estate strategies and large-scale capital project planning to maximize value and ensure efficient execution.
  • Restructuring: Working with clients to design and implement turnaround strategies, improve performance, and navigate financial or operational challenges.
  • Forensics & Financial Crime: Engaging in investigations, fraud risk management, and financial crime prevention to help clients maintain integrity and trust.
  • Technology Forensic Services: Supporting forensic investigations using advanced technology, data analytics, and fraud detection tools to uncover and address key issues.

  • Leadership Boost: Participate in a dynamic two-day event filled with interactive activities aimed at elevating your leadership skills. Highlights include a storytelling workshop and a celebratory boat party.
  • Personal Branding: Take part in interactive sessions designed to sharpen your communication skills and enhance your professional online presence.
  • Business Chemistry: Join a 90-minute session exploring a powerful framework for building stronger teams and more effective business relationships. This session introduces you to four personality types, each defined by consistent patterns of behavior and workplace preferences. You'll learn how to adapt and collaborate more effectively with different working styles.

Eligibility

Our programmes are open to students from all degrees and disciplines. To be eligible, you’ll need to be on track to achieve a 2.1 degree or higher.
