Frances Lenihan

The Irish ICE Desk in New York is led by Frances Lenihan a Taxation Director from Deloitte Ireland LLP. Frances specialises primarily in corporate and international tax for multinational companies investing into Ireland. Frances has significant expertise assisting clients with projects such as group re-organisations, corporate restructurings, the co-ordination of multi-jurisdictional tax engagments and advising on mergers & acquisitions transactions.

Having also worked in the Global Employer Services Tax Department, Frances has extensive experience in advising many multinational companies in in relation to the employment tax implications for their employee populations.

Due to the diverse nature of Frances’ client portfolio she has gained a wealth of knowledge advising domestic and international clients under a number of tax heads and across a range of industries including life sciences, consumer business, technology and the public sector.

Educational and professional exams:

Frances graduated from the University of Limerick with a First Class Honours Degree in Law and Accounting. Frances is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and a Chartered Tax Consultant (CTA).

Career highlights:

Advising on a wide range of cross border topics including international corporate restructuring transactions, refinancing transactions, foreign permanent establishment issues and working with clients to determine the impact of ongoing international tax developments.

Working with clients in the area of intellectual property planning which included advising many groups on how best to structure their IP and business operations..

Working with international companies to assist in structuring their inbound investment into Ireland in the most tax efficient method possible.

Working on a number of merger & acquisition transactions which involved advising on the tax structure of the transactions, undertaking the tax due diligence aspects, review and commentary of legal, and subsequent after-transaction tax planning, both on the buy side and sell side.

Acting as a global engagement co-ordinator on multi-jurisdictional tax compliance and tax consultancy engagements.

Leading complex global tax compliance engagements for clients, including assistance with CIT and other relevant tax filings, tax accounting requirements, annual provisioning and return to provision exercises.

Gained invaluable project management experience on a 6 month secondment in Deloitte London.
