Manager in Human Capital Consulting
What does a typical day look like in your role?

On a typical day, I log on at about 8.30am and start by reviewing emails and my to-do list. I then generally have a series of meetings and team check-ins in the morning. This usually consists of a catch-up with my client programme team, the IE Human Capital Team and at least one 1:1 check-in. As we move into the afternoon, I carve out a few hours to progress client deliverables, review work products or have check-ins with the team. The remainder of the day is generally spent in additional meetings, either with the client, the client programme team or on various firm or business development initiatives.

What attracted you to Deloitte as a career move? What development opportunities have you had since joining?

I joined Deloitte straight out of university nearly 7 years ago and have been with Deloitte Ireland for almost 3 years. Before Dublin, I worked for Deloitte US in Washington, D.C. I was attracted to the global firm as well as the learning and client service opportunities. Since joining Deloitte, I’ve had the opportunity to transition from Technology to Human Capital Consulting. Additionally, I’ve had the opportunity to move abroad, take various trainings, travel for client engagements, get promoted, lead teams, and make an impact for various private and public sector clients.

What advice would you give someone coming for an interview on the team, and what can new joiners expect from their first few days at Deloitte?

For anyone interviewing to join the team, I'd encourage them to research Consulting and specifically our Human Capital offerings. This would allow the candidate to get a better sense of the work we do. I'd also encourage candidates to ask questions about what to expect from the role, the firm and our clients.  From their first few days, new joiners can expect to have several (virtual!) coffee meeting invites in their diary as well as quite a handful of e-learnings to complete.

What is it about your role/industry that keeps you interested?

For the last nearly two years, I’ve been leading a Change & Communications Team on an North & South Europe (NSE) cybersecurity engagement. In this role, I've had the opportunity to lead a team, which allows me to contribute to their professional development and aspirations.  I find this part of the team lead role extremely rewarding. I also find it fascinating that cyber is an ever-evolving industry that is changing every day. In addition, cybersecurity impacts each of us. Through this engagement, I've been made more aware of the role we all play in keeping ourselves and Deloitte cyber safe.
