The impact of Gen AI on the Greek economy

Study conducted by Deloitte on behalf of SEPE and supported by the National Documentation Center (EKT).

Deloitte Greece's study, "The Impact of Gen AI on the Greek Economy," conducted in partnership with SEPE and supported by the National Documentation Center (EKT), surveyed 200 businesses across sectors in Greece.

Findings indicate early-stage Gen AI adoption, with only 15% having experimented with it.

However, 8 in 10 businesses foresee efficiency gains and development prospects through its use.

In Tech, IT, and Communications sectors, where 100 companies were surveyed, 2 in 3 companies haven't yet adjusted strategies for Gen AI.

Additionally, 3 in 5 IT firms foresee an increasing demand in supporting other sectors, thusly heightening the challenge of finding adequately trained personnel due to a notable gap between supply and demand for IT specialists.

Deloitte's analysis predicts a +5.5% (€10.7 billion) GDP impact by 2030 from Gen AI adoption (up to +9.8% under specific circumstances), stressing the need for policy measures to bridge the skills gap of IT specialists and STEM graduates for potential economic impact.
