2 September 2015 - Deloitte, the business advisory firm, today announces the launch of a new leadership consulting practice.
The practice will recruit 700 people across Deloitte’s network of member firms by 2020 and 140 of these will be based in the UK.*
The launch coincides with Deloitte UK’s acquisition of the business and assets of Kaisen Consulting Limited (“Kaisen”), a boutique leadership consultancy of business psychologists.
Kaisen is a Bristol based business, employing over 60 people, including 30 occupational psychologists based in the UK and US. It has 25 years’ experience working with senior leaders in more than 40 countries.
Combining Deloitte’s current leadership consulting research and experience with Kaisen’s market leading assessment methodology, IP, and tools, the new practice will target the global leadership services market, estimated to be worth over $40bn a year.**
Deloitte’s ambition is to become the leading provider of leadership services. The practice will offer Deloitte’s global client base access to a full range of leadership services, including: unique assessment tools, such as in-depth psychological profiling; management development and leadership strategy.***
The practice will initially be launched in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and Japan, before it is rolled out to Deloitte’s network of member firms.
Dimple Agarwal, global organization transformation and talent leader at Deloitte, said: “Leadership is an issue at the top of the boardroom agenda. Deloitte’s 2015 Human Capital Trends showed that nine in ten organizations cite leadership as one of their biggest challenges. However, only eight percent of UK organizations believe that they have an “excellent” leadership pipeline. It is clear that companies are struggling to attract, retain, and develop the leaders which will shape their future.”
Richard Houston, managing partner of consulting at Deloitte UK, said: “Having initially established an alliance with Kaisen almost five years ago, today’s transaction is the next phase in integrating the specialist knowledge and experience of the two organizations. The establishment of Deloitte’s leadership practice is an important step in building our global consulting business, allowing us to help clients identify, develop and retain their leaders.”
*Deloitte already ranked as a global leader in Talent Management Consulting (Kennedy Talent Management Consulting 2015).

***The new practice’s approach to leadership is a research based framework, which is founded on more than 20,000 leader psychological assessments, identifying the capabilities leaders need.
