WorldClimate

We recognize that one impact which affects all our stakeholders is the one to our planet’s ecosystems. To do our part, Deloitte has launched WorldClimate, our strategy to drive responsible climate choices and positive change within our organization and beyond. In Czech Republic and Slovakia, we see these goals as an opportunity to continue improving ourselves and our services with even greater impact.

Mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change are monumental tasks. The climate crisis is a risk to society at large, to our organisation and to our clients across the private and public sectors. Progress is possible and we must take urgent action, acting collectively and individually to make changes to help reduce our Greenhouse gas emissions. Deloitte is helping to lead the way toward a low-carbon future by guiding our clients on their Sustainability journeys, advancing meaningful actions and change within our own operations and supply chain and collaborating with non-profits and civil society.

The shift towards a net-zero economy is imperative as we mitigate future risks, meet the expectations of our stakeholders and support the continued prosperity of the communities we serve. Deloitte is dedicated to playing a leading role in helping drive this transition to a sustainable future.

- Joe Ucuzoglu, Deloitte Global CEO

Reducing Deloitte’s own emissions

Deloitte demonstrates its commitment to climate action through our WorldClimate ambition and net-zero by 2040 target. In 2020 Deloitte set near-term science-based targets and in 2024 we added long-term targets. Deloitte’s net-zero by 2040 target is inclusive of our near- and long-term targets and has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our net-zero by 2040 target is consistent with the Paris Agreement goal to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Environmental Policy and Climate Commitments

Every day at Deloitte, we look to make an impact that matters to our practitioners, our communities, and the clients that we serve.

  • Behaving in an environmentally friendly manner, not only at Deloitte’s premises, but also at the premises of our clients.
  • Implementing sustainability governance driven from the Executive level to ensure environmental protection on an ongoing basis.
  • Fulfilling all applicable environmental legislation requirements and other relevant necessities.
  • Setting decarbonization targets to mitigate our emissions, including fleet emissions, building emissions and business travel.
  • (Re-)using resources and managing waste according to circular economy principles.
  • Pursuing a programme of continuous improvement of our procedures and performance relating to environmental protection.

How do we do it?

  • We inform our employees and third parties about progress via internal and external reports, campaigns, memorandums, e-mails etc.
  • We educate employees via internal trainings on environmental impacts caused by organizations and individuals.
  • And we support activities in environmental protection that empower employees to act.

Strengthening Deloitte’s brand perception as a company dedicated to protecting the environment.

  • Promoting the ideas of environmental protection via Deloitte staff.
  • Collaboration with clients and external stakeholders to create and scale climate solutions and stimulate the green economy.
  • Publicly presenting compliance with requirements under ISO 14001, which demonstrates our commitment to resolving environmental issues.

Net-zero with 2040 goals

Deloitte’s near-term (2040) greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as 1.5°C-aligned, science-based targets. Deloitte has also committed to set long-term emissions reduction targets using the SBTi’s Net Zero Standard.

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 70% by 2040 from a 2019 base year.
  • Reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from business travel 50% per FTE by 2040 from a 2019 base year.
  • Engage with our suppliers with the goal of having 67% (by emissions) set science-based targets by 2025.
  • Invest in meaningful market solutions for emissions we cannot eliminate.
  • Sourcing 100% renewable energy for our buildings
  • Converting 100% of our fleet to hybrid and electric vehicles

Deloitte’s near-term goals (2040) were validated in advance of the issuance of the SBTi Net-Zero Standard. Deloitte’s next step will be to set long-term emissions reduction targets following the SBTi standard to continue playing our part in achieving a net-zero world.

Our FY24 Progress

Our sustainability transformation

Each industry will require business transformation to reach net-zero, including the professional services industry. Deloitte is implementing policies and transformation programmes to reduce our emissions 90% by 2040. This means reducing the emissions arising from how we work, the technology we use to do our work, the offices in which we work, and more.

Deloitte’s supply chain is the largest source of our emissions. Through targeted supplier engagement efforts, we continue to influence our suppliers to set SBTs, we collaborate with them on emissions reduction, and we work together to advance product-level emissions reporting. Our dedicated sustainability team within procurement directly supports our efforts to reach our near- and long-term targets across the supply chain lifecycle, from supplier selection to contracting and engagement.

Deloitte is also committed to supporting its people and the broader community to take collective and individual action and to make responsible climate choices. While the journey will be complex and unpredictable, we are committed to embracing these challenges head-on and working collectively toward a sustainable future within our organisation and with our clients and suppliers.

Our cooperation

Deloitte places great emphasis on sustainability, climate protection, and environmental care. To activate our efforts and empower communities for change, we cooperate with entities that share the same ambition.

Deloitte therefore launched a long-term partnership with Nadace Partnerství at the beginning of February 2023. The latter is an environmental foundation that distributes grants and offers professional and educational services both in the environmental field and in terms of caring for sustainable development.

We participate in two major initiatives - Planting the Future and Adapterra Awards - building a strong network of change-makers, motivating our colleagues for volunteering, and engaging our professionals to share their expertise for a greener future.
