Video: Artificial intelligence in health care

Artificial intelligence (AI) engines are enabling health care systems with faster decision making, helping them focus on more valuable, patient-facing activities.

Finding it difficult managing the outpatient queue at your hospital? Are your clinicians spending more time on administrative tasks than delivering clinical care? Can traditional data be enough to drive enhanced health care delivery? Artificial intelligence can be an important solution to all these challenges. From simple robotic process automation to advanced artificial intelligence and cognitive automation, the opportunities and outcomes are endless across all industries and the health care sector is no different.

Deloitte’s Dr. Matt Howard and Dr. Ronen Gordon, in conversation with The Business Debate, give insights into how artificial intelligence engines are helping health care systems to address some productivity challenges by analyzing reams of unstructured data. These engines are empowering health care providers by processing patient data and navigating patients through the care delivery system as effectively as possible, thus freeing up clinician time. However, it is important for these stakeholders to realize that these AI techniques are designed to augment the clinical workforce and not replace them, allowing highly trained resources to focus on more valuable, patient-facing activities.
