Deloitte teamed up with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-NL) and a group of public and private organizations to develop an AI-powered tool that is designed to predict where deforestation will occur. The tool uses automated assessment of spectral satellite imagery and other geospatial data to generate predictions, which are visualized in a web app accessible to local government officials and collaborators. The AI-powered online tool has helped to cut data processing time from 12 to four hours. The system has provided useful predictive deforestation information in Kalimantan, Malaysia, Gabon, Surinam, and Guyana. The focus is now on improving the system to better support prediction, intervention, and preservation activities in ancient tropical rainforests.

Agrarian Subsidy Assistant is an AI-powered tool designed to help farmers navigate the complex landscape of subsidy programs in the Dutch agricultural sector. This tool aligns farmers and their sustainability goals with suitable government subsidies while establishing a user-friendly interface to enhance their interaction with the technology. One of the expected impacts is to generate insights and also support farmers to understand how subsidies can help them achieve the government's sustainability targets.

The Global Fund faced challenges in evaluating funding requests for malaria prevention programs globally due to the number of country-level malaria reports, the number of different formats and the manual nature of searching and sifting through such reports. To address these challenges, the Virtual Assistant for Malaria Control and Planning was developed as an AI-powered tool synthesizing data and insights for evaluating funding requests. The expected impact for the Global Fund includes streamlined decision-making for evaluation of funding requests for 12+ countries, accounting for an estimated >75% of malaria cases globally; improved insights into the effectiveness of local malaria prevention programs; and an ehanced ability to analyze national and subnational reports containing survey data such as demographics and health details.

AI for Good Reports

Deloitte, in collaboration with the United Nations (UN) International Telecommunication Union (ITU), has developed the AI for Good Impact Report.  This comprehensive report aims to empower leaders with the knowledge to enhance Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance and applications to promote social good and drive sustainable, inclusive development.
