Our heritage

Touche, Ross, Baily & Smart arrived in The Bahamas at the urging request of a client of theirs. In the latter part of 1989, the Global process began with Deloitte Haskin and Sells merging with Touche Ross. During this merger, the local Managing Partner of Touche Ross joined the Managing Partner of Deloitte Haskin and Sells and Deloitte Bahamas was established.

In November 2004, Deloitte & Touche was acquired by Deloitte Cayman and Deloitte Bahamas. One month later, Deloitte & Touche merged with the local firm of Toppin, Walker & Co., splitting the ownership 50/50. A major milestone followed in 2009, when the firm became 100 percent locally owned.

We began our operations in Bermuda in 1969. That year, Deloitte Haskins & Sells set up in Bermuda in association with John Butterfield & Co and Rawlinson & Hunter. With the plan to establish its name permanently in Bermuda, Touche Ross & Company then merged with local affiliate Anfossi & Company in 1970 to provide auditing services. Eight years later, Harold Dale joined Anfossi & Company and to reflect this change, the firm was renamed Anfossi & Dale. In 1989, Deloitte Haskins & Sells and Touche Ross & Co. merged to form Deloitte & Touche.

In the years that followed, our Bermuda office celebrated other major milestones; merging with the British Virgin Islands and US Virgin Islands practices in August 2013.

Our commitment to its people, clients and communities in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) began in 1978, at a traditional BVI home converted to an office, on Main Street, Tortola. In 2011, the Firm opened a practice in the US Virgin Islands, with offices in St. Thomas and St. Croix. These physical offices were eventually closed when the BVI and USVI practices were acquired by the Bermuda office in 2013, but the Firm continues to operate and serve clients in the USVI.

In the Cayman Islands, our commitment to our people, clients and society began in 1973 with the opening of a small one-person office. Over the past almost five decades, our firm expanded exponentially, evolved through mergers and acquisitions, relocated offices, and further developed technical skills in key areas of service that positioned us as a center of excellence, both in the CBC and the Americas region.

Our Jamaica office was first established in 1967. Though this office was closed in 2013, we countinued to have a steady presence in the country for over 30 years performing audit and then advisory and consulting services. In 2025, we re-opened the doors of our physical office to more closely serve our Jamaican clients.

The Trinidad legacy firm, R.D. Rampersad & Co. (RDR), opened its doors in 1979. The firm had an informal relationship with Deloitte Bahamas as an international correspondent firm. It was out of this relationship, that the conversation began around being established as Deloitte. The process started in December 1998 and ten years later, on October 1, 2008, RDR finally made the shift to become Deloitte & Touche.

Having served the Turks and Caicos Islands for over 20 years providing Audit & Assurance services, we officially opened our TCI office in 2024 to expand our reach and position to support more efficiently our clients.
