Global Health Equity Network Zero Health Gaps Pledge

Deloitte’s commitment towards health equity

Deloitte is honored to be one of a growing list of 60+ signatories of the Zero Health Gaps Pledge, the first global, multi-sector, CEO-level pledge to help advance health equity. The Pledge, launched by the Global Health Equity Network (GHEN) at the 2023 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, aligns with Deloitte’s goal to achieve health equity across our organization, offerings, communities, and ecosystem globally. We are energized to join a growing community of leading organizations that have signed the Pledge, each signaling an enduring commitment to taking action to advance health equity.

Deloitte is proud to be committed to the World Economic Forum’s Zero Health Gaps Pledge. As an organization deeply committed to its purpose of making an impact that matters, we believe that business has a critical role to play in helping more of the world’s people achieve their full human potential in every aspect of health and well-being. Individual health outcomes are often directly influenced by the choices companies make because those outcomes are influencing factors outside the healthcare system, such as access to food, housing and healthcare information.”

- Joe Ucuzoglu, Deloitte Global CEO and World Economic Forum Global Health Equity Network Co-Chair

Deloitte and Health Equity

Deloitte believes that each organization is a health organization, and each has a role to play in eliminating health disparities. These preventable differences in health indicators such as life expectancy, birth outcomes, and chronic disease are often fueled by structural inequities that adversely impact the communities and individuals that organizations rely on to thrive. In recent years, global climate and health crises have exacerbated these inequities and heightened the potential consequences of inaction.

We know that achieving a world with Zero Health Gaps is an immense challenge. However, we believe health equity is an essential element in making a sustainable future for humanity a reality. Deloitte is committed to activating our clients, resources, and communities to reach this goal.

We recently announced a $1.5 billion investment in social impact, focused on fostering a more equitable society. This financial commitment builds on existing social responsibility efforts and leverages cross-sector capabilities to help drive impact in the areas of education and workforce development, financial inclusion, and health equity. Deloitte works directly with clients across various industries and sectors to support them as they integrate health equity considerations and investments into their business strategy at different levels.

We also established Deloitte Health Equity Institutes (DHEIs) in the United States, India, and South Africa. The Institutes are dedicated to advancing health equity through an array of cross-sector collaborations, philanthropic investments, and research activity. Unified by our global mission, each location addresses the core challenges within the respective regions. The DHEIs serve as catalysts for change by bringing business, government, and community leaders together to intentionally design and build systems that help advance health equity as an outcome.

The Global Health Equity Network and the Zero Health Gaps Pledge

The Zero Health Gaps Pledge serves as a public commitment for organizational leaders globally to act on health equity. Launched during the 2023 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos by the Global Health Equity Network, it is the first global, multi-sector, CEO-level pledge for health equity.

The Pledge includes 10 key commitments for CEOs to embed health equity principles throughout their operations, workforce, and guiding philosophies. Pledge commitments include (but are not limited to) supporting strong diversity, equity and inclusion programs; providing accessible high-quality health and mental health services; paying employees across the supply chain a living wage; investing in safe living environments, and many others. The Pledge is supported by the Business Case for Health Equity and an Action Guide for Advancing Health Equity.

While each organization is at a different stage of their health equity journey, this pledge harnesses energy from across sectors and geographies to help achieve a world with Zero Health Gaps.
