General Practitioner Workforce in Australia

Understanding the current general practice workforce landscape, and the drivers of supply and demand for GPs in Australia over the next decade will assist in efforts in workforce planning into the future.

This report projects the supply of and demand for General Practitioner (GP) workforce in Australia between 2021 and 2032. This report is an update to the GP workforce model completed in 2019, with the updated modelling including non-vocationally registered GPs and further segregation of geographic markers to describe the supply and demand of GP services by Australian Statistical Geography Standard - Remoteness Areas, disaggregated into major cities and regional and remote areas of Australia.
