2024 Financial Crime Symposium & Identity and Data Protection Session

Deloitte is hosting its fifth annual Financial Crime Symposium and an Identity and Data Protection Session on Thursday, 25 July 2024.

We are witnessing significant change across the financial crime and identity and data protection spaces, both in the nature and frequency of threats and the regulatory frameworks that seek to mitigate them. Against this challenging landscape it is essential for businesses to stay ahead of evolving threats and adopt strategic approaches to safeguard their businesses, customers and sensitive information.

To address these pressing issues comprehensively, we are organising a full-day event, segmented into two half-day sessions, aimed at providing valuable insights and strategies to understand, mitigate and address risks.

The Financial Crime portion of the day will focus on topics including:

  • AI in financial crime: Revolutionising detection or empowering criminals?
  • Regulatory perspectives on the reform agenda: AUSTRAC and the Attorney General’s Department will provide an update on reforms consultation
  • A reset moment for financial crime: The case for an economic crime strategy for Australia
  • An ecosystem response to scams - what does it really mean? A cross-industry panel will discuss critical aspects of the planned ecosystem approach proposed in the draft scams Code
  • Financial crime beyond the money trail: An important conversation about the human toll of financial crime
  • Customer onboarding: Striking the right balance between efficiency and security in financial services

After lunch the agenda will pivot to focus on Identity and Data protection, topics comprise:

  • Identity Verification: The evolution of identity verification: from traditional to digital verification
  • The Future is Verifiable: The future of identity verification: from verification to verifiable credentials
  • Quantum Security Readiness: From hype to hygiene
  • Customers and Consent: How do you strategically build and retain your customer base with privacy and security at the core?
  • Ransomware extortion: What happens during a ransomware attack to pay or not to pay? and the role of the regulators.

Attendees may choose to participate in either of the half-day sessions individually or are welcome to stay for the full-day event.

The event will also provide a platform for networking and collaboration with industry leaders and subject matter experts. Register here.
