Audit Unlocked

Study your degree. Build your career in Audit.

Turn the skills you’re building at university into real-world experience. Audit Unlocked is a pathway for penultimate-year students from non-accounting degrees to start a permanent, part-time career at Deloitte while completing their studies.

Gain real client experience, build your commercial capability and receive support to complete the Chartered Accountants ANZ Foundations Program.

Applications open 22 October and close 4 November 2026.

About the program

You don’t need an accounting degree to build a career in Audit.

Audit Unlocked gives students from science, engineering, arts, and non-accounting business disciplines the chance to apply the skills they’re already developing to a different kind of career.

You’ll join Deloitte in a permanent, part-time role, working three days a week while completing university. You’ll earn a competitive salary, contribute to real client work and learn alongside experienced professionals, coaches and mentors.

We’ll also provide financial and study support to help you complete the Chartered Accountants ANZ (CAANZ) Foundations Program.

The next Audit Unlocked intake starts 22 February 2027 in Sydney and Melbourne.

Your degree teaches you how to think. Audit teaches you how business works.

Audit gives you a front-row seat to some of Australia’s leading organisations. You’ll learn how businesses operate, how decisions are made, where risks sit and how organisations build confidence in the information they use.

You’ll work across client information, testing, analysis and reporting, building your commercial understanding and professional judgement through real experience.

Arts taught you to question and communicate

Bring your research, critical thinking and communication skills to understanding organisations, working with stakeholders and explaining complex findings.

Engineering taught you to understand systems

Apply your understanding of systems, processes, data and failure points to business processes, controls and risk.

Science taught you to test the evidence

Use your evidence-based thinking to analyse information, investigate anomalies and build confidence in your findings.

Business taught you how organisations work

Build on that foundation with exposure to financial reporting, controls, risk and business performance.

What you can expect

From day one, you’ll learn by contributing to live audit engagements, with support from people who want to help you grow.

  • Depending on your team and clients, you could:
  • Review financial information, test balances and document findings
  • Use data and analysis to identify issues and understand areas of risk
  • Work with senior team members and clients to gather evidence and ask questions
  • Build an understanding of how different organisations and industries operate

You’ll receive professional training and ongoing feedback to help you build your confidence and capability.
