Payroll Officer, Internal Client Services

About The Role:

Deloitte Papua New Guinea is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our Internal Client Services (ICS) team in Port Moresby. This is an immediate opportunity for a payroll professional who is ready to make an impact in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and confidential payroll administration services. This role plays a key part in ensuring payroll processes, employee records, statutory obligations, and payroll reporting are managed efficiently and in compliance with Deloitte policies and Papua New Guinea legislative requirements.

Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent.

Responsibilities:

As a Payroll Officer, you will:

  • Prepare and process payroll accurately and on time, including salary changes, allowances, deductions, leave adjustments, and final payments.
  • Maintain employee payroll records for new hires, transfers, employee changes, and terminations.
  • Ensure timely compliance with statutory obligations, including Salary & Wages Tax (SWT), superannuation contributions, and other payroll-related reporting requirements.
  • Perform payroll and staff ledger reconciliations, investigate variances, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Reconcile Long Service Leave (LSL), Annual Leave (AL), and Sick Leave balances within the Attaché payroll system.
  • Prepare leave balance reports and leave liability reports for Finance.
  • Respond to employee payroll enquiries in a professional, accurate, and confidential manner.
  • Prepare payroll reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for Finance and management review.
  • Maintain data integrity and identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, documentation, and controls.
  • Administer and update employee information within the Nasfund and NCSL Employer Portals.
  • Support payroll improvement initiatives, data clean-up activities, reconciliations, and other payroll-related projects.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience in payroll administration, including payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, and employee data maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Attaché Payroll System, including payroll processing, reporting, employee data management, and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of Nasfund and NCSL Employer Portals is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, numeracy, and reconciliation skills.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to prepare payroll schedules and reports.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across Finance, Talent, and other business teams.
