Financial Controller, Internal Client Services (ICS)

About The Role:

Deloitte Papua New Guinea is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Financial Controller to join our Internal Client Services (ICS) team in Port Moresby. This is an immediate opportunity for a qualified finance professional who is ready to lead financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial control activities in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Reporting to the Office Managing Partner, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of Deloitte’s financial reporting processes, maintaining compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements, driving process improvements, and supporting the development of Finance team members.

Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Responsibilities:

As a Financial Controller, you will:

  • Lead and oversee the financial month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of month-end milestones and finalisation of management accounts and financial reports.
  • Oversee the integrity of transaction processing and general ledger maintenance, ensuring robust internal controls are maintained
  • Develop, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators on a timely basis to senior management, ensuring ongoing relevance to reflect changing business needs
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and long-range financial planning processes.
  • Drive standardisation and continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, reporting, and governance.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and statutory reporting obligations in PNG and the Solomon Islands.
  • Lead the compilation and review of ad hoc data extracts and reports in response to various inquiries from management, regulatory authorities and other government agencies.
  • Continually focus on the upskilling and development of the Finance team members.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to Finance improvement initiatives.

About You

  • To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • A CA or CPA qualification with at least six years of relevant finance or chartered accounting experience.
  • Strong technical expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax, and compliance.
  • Proven experience in management reporting, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, APS and Attache’ will be favourable.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, supported by advanced Excel proficiency.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to mentor team members and drive process efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
