It’s a big word— “relationships”—but the meaning is simple. It describes how two or more people or things are connected.
Here Tracey, a Senior Analyst in our Business Tax Advisory team, explains how building strong relationships across Deloitte is helping advance her career.
When asked how Deloitte helps Tracey to be her best self, her response is typical to most Deloitte employees who are asked the same question "the people I work with are great. They are supportive and care about my learning and development. We also respect each other's personal time – we understand we have other commitments outside of work that are also important".
Having supportive and collaborative colleagues can create a positive work environment, foster teamwork, and encourage individual growth and development. Additionally, working with people who are knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled can help individuals learn new skills and expand their knowledge base.

Tracey’s role involves a combination of compliance, consulting and advisory work for Australian listed companies and businesses in the large private enterprise market. “I find the work interesting and really enjoy understanding each client’s individual needs and then applying my knowledge. Being able to collaborate with different teams across Tax & Legal and other Deloitte business areas to draw on their expertise and varied skill set has enabled me to deliver the best outcomes for my clients”.
Creating connections and continuing to network across Deloitte has empowered Tracey to excel in her communication and ability to work cohesively – skills she says are imperative to her role. “I have learnt a lot so far but there is still a lot to learn and improve on. The skills you learn are useful and Deloitte is a great place to develop your career, especially with all the various training and study opportunities”.
With ongoing support from her team, regular career conversations and goal setting with her Counselling Partner and Coach, alongside drawing on different people’s experiences across Deloitte, Tracey is driving her career and taking full advantage of the learning and growth opportunities on offer.

It’s not all work however within Tax & Legal - as a member of the Australian National Ultimate Frisbee Squad, Tracey has also fully leaned in to our DeloitteFlex to fulfill her love of sport, “I have found it really useful given I have a busy training schedule and sometimes need to travel interstate or overseas”. With the flexibility to adjust your working hours, it means that Tracey can get her work done during the week in a way that suits her unique lifestyle.
Having an established foundation of trust with both her team and clients means that Tracey is accelerating her career, while also pursuing her passion for sport.
