We’re all familiar with how COVID-19 grounded the world to a halt. What we might not be as familiar with however, is how Deloitte continued to support businesses with their immigration challenges during this time.
Tiffany Hartel, a Director in our Immigration team (part of Global Employer Services) is part of a highly trusted group of specialists who advise ASX200 listed companies with their everchanging landscape. “The last few years have brought many challenges for organisations in both moving talent across borders and attracting and retaining talent. Working with our broader [Tax & Legal] teams in addressing these challenges through remote work solutions, border restrictions and consulting with government has been critical to our success as a business and in my own career development”.
"It’s very rewarding to be able to tell an individual that they have been granted a visa to live and work in Australia, as well as to support our clients in mobilising talent to meet their business needs"
For Tiffany, she believes her role is filled with purpose that makes a genuine impact on people's lives. ‘The immigration process is a very personal journey for individuals. We are privileged to be part of that journey, supporting individuals and our clients in achieving their goals. It’s very rewarding to be able to tell an individual that they have been granted a visa to live and work in Australia, as well as to support our clients in mobilising talent to meet their business needs’.
Since joining Deloitte almost 5 years ago, and with 15 years' experience in immigration and global mobility, Tiffany has seen her profession continually advance. ‘We’re currently working with our clients to obtain their input on how the Australian Migration Program should evolve to meet business needs, attract global talent and support the movement of talent across borders. This consultation with business and government will drive change within our profession over the coming years’.
With Deloitte leveraging its digital capabilities to support Australia’s future, Tiffany acknowledges that it’s critical, if we’re to continue helping our clients remain at the forefront. ‘AI will play a key role to both win in the market and deliver services to our clients in a profitable and efficient manner’.
"You get to work with amazing, talented individuals which enables you to broaden your knowledge within tax and legal."
A career highlight for Tiffany was collaborating with our Deloitte Greenhouse team to deliver a Re-Imagine Immigration Lab to a large client, ‘working with the Deloitte Greenhouse team was such a privilege, their creativity and passion was nothing I had experienced before. The client was blown away by the experience, which put us in a strong position when transitioning the work to Deloitte’.
For Tiffany, the opportunities to connect with different teams across Tax & Legal and other Deloitte teams has opened many doors, from strengthening her network to tackling client challenges with deeper technical expertise – imperative skills required for the role. ‘You get to work with amazing, talented individuals which enables you to broaden your knowledge within tax and legal’.
When Tiffany isn’t helping clients manage their immigration requirements for their mobile workforce, she’s taking full advantage of DeloitteFlex. ‘Deloitte has provided me with the best of both worlds, the opportunity to work flexibly as well as the opportunity to come together in an environment that encourages connections and collaboration. Working remotely, with one or two days a week in the office, has enabled me to find a balance in my personal and professional career that I am very grateful for’.
