CanTeen is one of Deloitte’s three national community partners. The collaborative relationship enables our people to share expertise aimed at helping CanTeen become a stronger organisation.
One Friday night in May, 2017 a group of 17 young people affected by cancer gathered in Redfern, Sydney for a special storytelling workshop, enabled by Deloitte. The young men and women, some of whom had flown from interstate, were taking part in the CanTeen Youth Ambassador Training Program. All in attendance had lived through a personal cancer experience: some having the disease themselves and others having a sibling or parent with cancer.
The focus of the CanTeen workshop, conducted by author, writing teacher and Deloitte Responsible Business Communications manager, Sonya Voumard, was to use literary non-fiction writing techniques to help these young leaders tell their stories as articulately and creatively as possible. The results were inspiring.
