Team from leading innovation and venture growth consultancy GLASS to join Deloitte

Deloitte Australia will become a leader in the provision of strategy and data-driven innovation advisory services, with the team from GLASS to join the professional services firm’s Consulting arm.

Established in 2017, Brisbane-based GLASS focuses on working with clients across the public, aged care, retail, utilities, education, and financial services sectors to shape their organisations for the future across strategy, innovation, and data and technology led transformation.

Co-founders Erin McCarthy (currently GLASS Director of Business Growth and Brand) and Wayne Custodio (currently Director of Strategic Solutions, Quality and Operations) will become Deloitte Consulting partners.

This latest strategy and technology team hire follows the people from Intellify (artificial intelligence and data and machine learning) and Fusion Labs (innovation, strategy and new ventures consulting) joining Deloitte in 2022 and 2021 respectively.

Deloitte Consulting Managing Partner, Ellen Derrick, said:

“Innovation and venture growth are key issues for so many of our clients. And driving business strategy and positive change through opportunities via data and technology solutions is a core focus for our Consulting business.

“Just as the Intellify and Fusion labs teams have been a strong and natural fit, so is the team from GLASS. They bring strategy, innovation, growth, data analytics and technology enablement together to deliver lasting competitive advantage and value. They are dynamic and energetic, and we are excited to have Erin, Wayne and their colleagues join our team.”

Deloitte Consulting’s Lead Partner, Strategy & Business Design, Dr Kellie Nuttall, said:

“Digital transformation driven by innovation is so important for organisations wanting to adapt to changing market conditions, meet customer expectations, succeed and grow. But getting innovation right – from clear strategy development to purposeful execution – is also challenging.

Deloitte Queensland Managing Partner, Judith Donovan, said:

“GLASS is well known in the Queensland market, and we are strongly aligned when it comes to our client focus and purpose.

“Our teams coming together will enhance our ability to offer clients both deep technical experience and sector solutions, and position Deloitte as the market leader in innovation, strategy and growth advisory consulting in our state.

“This latest move is also part of a broader growth story for Deloitte in Queensland. We have more than 1300 people working across multiple business units, sectors and service offerings, and we’ve also welcomed other specialist local teams in recent years, including from Entrago, the leading provider of ServiceNow technology and enterprise process automation, and asset management advisory consultancy in Bluefield.”

GLASS Director of Business Growth and Brand, and soon-to-be Deloitte Consulting partner, Erin McCarthy, said:

“Organisations that modernise their technology platforms and create impactful digital experiences that are future-proof and human-centred are the ones that are going to succeed.

“As a smaller, future-focused digital consulting agency, GLASS has been successful in its chosen markets in creating innovative co-designed experiences and digital solutions for our clients.

“In Deloitte, we’ve connected with like minds and motives. The firm has such a strong market presence in Queensland, Australia and globally, and we’re excited to be part of a bigger picture in terms of opportunity for our clients and our people.”

GLASS Director of Strategic Solutions, Quality and Operations, and soon-to-be Deloitte Consulting partner, Wayne Custodio, said:

“Understanding the forces that are radically changing how organisations work in the new digital economy will help maximise the potential for innovation and success, and on this front, our specialist and talented team has achieved a great deal in a short time in terms of market position and client impact.

“Deloitte’s vison and mission really resonate with us. The culture and values are so closely aligned to ours that it makes this an incredibly exciting move. It’s a logical next step, and a case of the right time and the right place.”

The GLASS team will formally join Deloitte on 1 March. Terms of the transaction are confidential.
