13 SEPTEMBER 2022: Deloitte Australia will strengthen its insurance industry digital transformation offering and will become one of Australia’s leading certified Guidewire consultants, with the specialist team from 4impact to join the professional services firm.
Most of Australia’s insurance businesses operate using Guidewire, an insurance sector technology platform that combines digital, analytics, and AI delivered as a cloud service to drive business innovation and transformation.
The expansion is well-timed, with the insurance industry facing pressure on margins as a result of challenges in underwriting and growing top line, as well as increased regulatory risks, more significant climate change-induced risk profiles, and lower market entry barriers due to insurance technology platforms.
The 4impact team has deep experience across multiple Guidewire products, and offers a full range of services from strategy to implementation, enhancements, upgrades, integrations, maintenance and support.
The 4impact team and Deloitte are Guidewire PartnerConnect Consulting Partners, and the move will see Deloitte grow its Guidewire team by around 50 people. Former 4impact CEO John Ryan will become a Deloitte Consulting partner.
Deloitte National Financial Services and Insurance Leader, Arthur Calipo, said: “Insurers continue to be under pressure to deliver revenue growth and improved margins whilst addressing increased regulatory risks, more significant climate change-induced events, and competition from new entrants who have access to modern technology platforms.
“Technology trends surrounding cloud, applied AI, IoT and blockchain are critical to the successful transformation industry players need to pursue.
“Guidewire solutions are widely used across the sector in Australia and Asia. 4impact is the largest Guidewire certified specialist team in the region and their deep experience will be a strong addition to our market offerings that connect strategy with leading edge technology solutions.
”Deloitte Consulting Partner and National Leader Industry Solution, Berin Wallace, said: “The insurance industry is moving to cloud solutions that offer greater agility in the face of digital disruption.
“The 4impact team has deep technical experience in offering a full range of services from strategy to implementation, enhancements, upgrades, integrations, maintenance, and support.
“The arrival of this highly specialised team will add to our already strong presence in the Australian market, and our broader global footprint, and we’re excited to be welcoming John Ryan and the team, including the highly credentialled delivery centre group in Manila, into Deloitte.
”In-coming Deloitte Consulting partner, John Ryan, said: “This team has a proven track record and capability for end-to-end complex project delivery, providing the very best Guidewire-enabled client solutions.
“Joining Deloitte represents a natural evolution for us, and the firm’s recognition and investment in our people and their capability is a testament to what they have achieved in the market. This is a logical next step, combining this group’s experience with Deloitte’s global Guidewire experience and resources to create the leading service in our region.
”Guidewire Managing Director Asia Pacific, Roland Slee, said: “Deloitte’s integration of the team from 4impact will greatly strengthen the value Guidewire and Deloitte can offer our joint clients.
“Deloitte is a Guidewire Global Premier Alliance Partner, and we have very high regard for the experience, capability and assets Deloitte has brought to the Australian market.
“The combination of the 4impact team’s experience with Guidewire Cloud development and Deloitte’s Guidewire Cloud implementation skills and assets will only accelerate Guidewire’s mission of powering insurance innovation.
”The 4impact team is expected to formally join Deloitte on 4 October 2022. Terms of the transaction are confidential.
