Deloitte announces first intake of athletes in the Ignite Athlete Employment Program

19 May 2025: Olympic Games Paris 2024 gold medallists Noemie Fox and Brianna Throssell are among the first intake of athletes welcomed by Deloitte as part of the Ignite Athlete Employment Program.

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) affiliated program has been designed to support and develop the athletic and professional ambitions of Australian current, transitioning or aspiring Olympians and Paralympians.

Through Ignite, Deloitte, with the support of the AIS (part of the Australian Sports Commission), provides successful applicants permanent positions across the firm.

The first athletes employed as part of the program represent a range of sports and will work with Deloitte teams across the country. Some of the athletes have already been working with Deloitte while also achieving sporting success. A further two Paralympic athletes will be announced shortly.

“As a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, Deloitte aspires to be an employer of choice for athletes who wish to pursue a career in parallel with, or at the end of, their sporting careers.

“Athletes understand high performance, being goal oriented, motivated, resilient and adaptable – the same transferrable skills required to build a rewarding career.

“My hope is that Ignite will help our Olympians and Paralympians reach their full potential both on and off the field.”

Executive General Manager Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Performance Matti Clements said: “The Ignite program is an innovative and collaborative approach that aligns with our goal of supporting athletes to balance their performance with wellbeing to win well and inspire Australians.

“We know from experience the difficulties high-performance (HP) athletes often face in balancing a full-time workload of training, competing and travelling. This program has been designed by athletes, for athletes, to allow sufficient flexibility to enable ongoing training and competition to co-exist with work and study commitments.”

Following this first intake of athletes, Ignite will reopen in late September to further applicants. Any athlete interested in working at Deloitte can apply once they have completed, or are in the final stages of completing, relevant professional qualifications. All levels and roles at Deloitte are open to the program.

Four-time Paralympic Gold Medallist and Deloitte Australia team member Curtis McGrath OAM PLY said: “It’s been a privilege through my work at Deloitte to be involved with designing this program for emerging, current, and transitioning Olympians and Paralympians.

“Ignite provides invaluable support as athletes navigate their transition into the corporate world enabling them to achieve success in their sport while building successful professional careers. It also provides an amazing opportunity to bring a focused and high performing mindset to our team.

“This important program will keep high performing athletes in sport for longer, so we bring our best to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032 and beyond. I’m so proud to be part of this journey for our incredible athletes!”
