Meet Sabine Bennett, one of our Partners in our Consulting team focused on Digital health and Patient Experience.

How did your passion for healthcare start and what was the motivation for pursuing a career in healthcare?

As for most people, Health is deeply personal to me and ever since I was a little kid I had a real admiration for medical professionals. When my friends went off to uni to study medicine, I felt I didn’t have what it takes to be a Doctor. This always left me with an itch wanting to contribute and one day the light bulb went off and I realised that I could make an impact to our Health system by applying my own skills.     

Could you provide a brief overview of your professional journey leading up to your current role?

After some industry roles I started my consulting career in a smaller firm specialising in SAP. I then joined Deloitte as part of an acquisition in 2013 and got the incredible opportunity to work across different consulting teams ranging from strategy to implementation, working with different technology alliances and across industries. I found my passion and home in the Digital team as our focus of putting the customer at the centre is very aligned with my ethos. Whilst I have experience across many industries; I have always had a soft spot for Health and find this to be the most impactful and personally fulfilling sector to work in.

What skills and capability do you bring to transform health?

Bringing digital transformation to life. My sweet spot is helping clients deliver digital solutions that meet the needs of consumers.

What can you tell us about your role at Deloitte and the work you're involved in?

Every day I get to work with innovative clients and extremely talented team members to design and create digital experiences that put the consumers back at the centre of their health and wellbeing journey.

What Health projects have you worked on at Deloitte, and can you tell us about some of the skills or experiences you've gained?

Together with our team I have delivered digital health solutions for public health, private health, disability, aged care and health insurance providers to improve consumer engagement and interaction; care delivery; data sharing, in home / virtual care and employee experience.

What notable achievements or initiatives have you led that have had a significant impact on healthcare outcomes?

I am very proud of the whitepaper we published in collaboration with the Digital Health CRC, Consumer Health Forum and Curtin University: https://www2.deloitte.com/au/en/pages/life-sciences-and-healthcare/articles/australias-health-reimagined.html and the accompanying article published in the International Journal of Medical Informatics.

What impact are you looking to have on the sector and what is your vision for the future of healthcare?

I dream of a connected system that enables and empowers consumers to access care whenever, wherever (Shakira style!) through their channel of choice and focuses on prevention.
