New APRA Reporting for Insurers - AASB 17

Reflecting the introduction of the new accounting standard for insurers AASB 17 Insurance Contracts (“AASB 17”), APRA released its new prudential and reporting standards on 1 July 2023 (“new APRA reporting”). September 2023 was the first quarterly return under the new framework. Deloitte has had the opportunity to work with a number of general and life insurers as they implement the new APRA reporting. We have also conducted a survey to capture their experience and learnings from this process.
