2008 China Private Equity Confidence Survey

After the stunning Beijing Olympics we wanted to look at the future of the growing China private equity market. We therefore contacted 30 leading China PE participants across the spectrum of Chinese and international funds, VC and PE investors, to ask their views. As is evident from the survey, opinions are varied and at times contradictory. This in itself demonstrates an important feature of the China PE market - it is young, dynamic, changing rapidly, and can look very different, depending on the vantage point.

The investors surveyed are mainly optimistic about the long term development of the China private equity market. This is supported by the continued growth in funds being allocated for investment in China. They, however, have mixed views on the future of various investment options, and are concerned about both regulation and macro-economic trends. From our conversations with clients we see a number of issues, many of which are echoed in this survey.
