A regional perspective: Global metals outlook ll

  • To find out whether the stimulus that governments around the world are providing will indeed jumpstart domestic economies, Deloitte Global Manufacturing Industry Group turned to a panel of metals industry leaders from Deloitte member firms around the globe, including in China, Brazil, Europe, Japan, India, Russia, South Korea, and the United States
  • As a key finding, this paper proposes the global outlook as:
    • Benefits from stimulus measures will not be seen until the second half of 2009, at the earliest
    • China’s stimulus package is seen as holding much potential to impact global demand
    • Demand is still growing in certain emerging markets and these areas could lead the recovery
