Deloitte Women in Leadership

Polishing Pearls for Higher Places

The Deloitte Women in Leadership (DWIL) group is a governance body that monitors the firm’s strategies and policies relating to women in the workplace. It acts as an advisory body to the Transformation Board on matters of gender equality in the firm.

Deloitte Women in Leadership (DWIL) has four key strategic focus areas:

  1. To increase the number of women at partner/director and leadership levels
  2. To work in collaboration with the firm’s Talent and Transformation strategies to attract, develop and retain talented women
  3. To ensure appropriate support is provided for challenges faced by women in balancing their careers and home life
  4. To build brand eminence for our firm with key female clients and targets

The advancement of women in the workplace is supported by the firm’s leaders. “In the short to medium term our goal is to achieve critical mass, both in terms of race and gender, in all key areas,” says chief executive Lwazi Bam. “It is therefore vital that there are inspiring women at the most senior levels within the firm to provide the aspiration, motivation and mentorship to our younger women of all races coming through Deloitte.”

The WIL committee comprises of female partners/directors/associates from all the firm’s service lines and regions and together, they represent all the females in Deloitte. The current chairperson of DWIL is Anthea Scholtz, a director in Tax, Cape Town.
