Your Update on Energy Tax Incentives

The section-by-section summary of the American Power Act, sponsored by Senators John Kerry, D-Mass., and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn, proposes to expand by $5 billion the section 48C Advanced Energy Manufacturing Project Credit.

This document was prepared by committee staff and is subject to change leading up to the official release of statutory language that is expected to occur tomorrow afternoon. Further action on this legislation is uncertain at this point, but not likely until mid-June at the earliest following an economic analysis by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Also, these tax incentives will either have to be considered by the Finance Committee or at least be agreed to by Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont.

Please contact either Scott Smith or Lori Wren Elerts if you have any questions or need additional information.
