Support for R&D demonstrative projects

The new pilot programme Support for R&D demonstrative projects implemented by National Research and Development Center is an opportunity to apply for support for projects involving research and development phase concerning creation of a prototype or experimental installation. Companies operating in all kinds of businesses may receive co-financing to verify the results of conducted R&D works and to prepare them for deployment and transfer to the economy. Support will be directed especially to large, integrated R&D projects focused on the commercialization of results and construction of pilot plants for testing and demonstration of new technologies. Companies may receive up to 80% for industrial research costs and up to 60% development works costs.

Investments
  • Costs of conducting research and development work (among others, creating a pilot or a demo installation) and technical feasibility studies for the needs of development work;
  • Minimum value of eligible expenditures for the project: PLN 5 M;
  • Maximum subsidy: PLN 100 M.
Success drivers
  • Indication of justifiability of continuing R&D on specific solution and the benefits arising from verification of the solution in demo scale;
  • The project deals with an innovative technology or product the commercialization of which is probable;
  • As part of the project the new technology or product will be validated/ tested as a demo, in actual conditions;
  • The project includes the plan for use of the pilot/ demo installation upon completion of the project as well as implementation plan for the solution forming the object of the project on an industrial scale;
  • A project leader is an entrepreneur experienced in implementing new solutions on an industrial scale.
Eligible costs
  • Salaries and non-payroll costs of the work of persons employed in industrial research or development work;
  • Costs of scientific and research appliances and other equipment;
  • Costs of land and buildings;
  • Costs of research services performed based on the contract, technical knowledge and patents purchased or used based on a licence, costs of advisory services, etc. (in the amount of up to 70% of overall eligible costs of the research phase carried out by the enterprise);
  • Other operational costs, including the costs of purchase and wear & tear of materials, operating materials/ resources, etc.;
  • Additional overhead costs (for enterprises: lump sum - up to 8% of the overall eligible costs; for scientific units/ research institutes – up to 15%).
    Note: the costs of industrial research may constitute the maximum of 15% of the project’s eligible expenditures.
