Deloitte New Zealand is excited about the publication of our first external Corporate Social Responsibility (CR) report. The report outlines the activities and programmes that our people are involved in across the areas of community involvement and operational sustainability.
Our overall commitment to corporate responsibility is one of the things that makes Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT) member firms leaders in business around the world. As a leading professional services organisation, we have much to contribute to public policy, business and society. We are committed to delivering sustainable value for our stakeholders, including our people, our clients, our regulators and the community.
We have seen the growing importance of corporate responsibility in a number of areas, including employee engagement and retention, ensuring that our impacts are minimized as much as possible, as well as moving away from simply a compliance focus, towards CR becoming embedded into the fabric of a business and becoming a value-creating mechanism.
We are proud of our partnerships in the community, and look forward to deepening those relationships in the future. While we have made some gains in particular areas of our emissions footprint, such as energy and paper, we are also aware that we need to do more work, particularly with regards to business travel. How to manage these emissions while not constraining the business is a challenge for all organisations, but we are committed to making ongoing improvements in this area.
