Cup of Excellence 2010 (II)

19 of the most highly ranked Guatemalan tasters participated as the National Jury, which was selected after having received previous training and evaluation by an expert taster from ACE.

The international competition differs in the type of jury, since these are international purchasers who come to taste the coffees selected by the national panel.  We have the participation of 24 tasters and 4 observers from the USA, Canada, Brazil, Russia, Germany, Norway, Lithuania, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand.  In addition, it is with great pride that these tasters are also joined by 2 Guatemalan tasters who are now international tasters.  During the selection of coffees there is much discussion in which the admiration of the foreigners towards our coffee is made apparent through their use of adjectives such as: the coffee tastes like paradise, velvet, heaven, in addition to fruits, chocolate, wine, spices and all kinds of expressions that make evident the reasons why people pay such high prices for a cup of Guatemalan Coffee.

The announcement of the winners was held last May 28th, with 27 winning farms including the Top Ten, which will participate in the International Auction scheduled to be held in Guatemala.
